Download the Waiting app from the App Store or Google Play. Open it, enter your email or phone number, verify with a code, and set up biometric authentication. You'll choose whether you're signing up as a server or a patron during onboarding. The whole process takes under two minutes.
Public server profiles appear on the live map and can be found by any patron browsing the app. Private profiles are invisible on the public map and in general search — only users you've personally invited via your QR code can follow you. You can switch between public and private at any time from your profile settings. Either way, your subscribers can always see your current schedule.
Patrons can send USDC tips directly from any server's profile page. Tap "Tip," enter an amount, and confirm with biometrics. The tip is sent on the Solana network and typically confirms in under a second. A 3.75% platform fee is deducted from the tip amount. Tips appear in the server's wallet immediately after confirmation.
Go to your Wallet tab, tap "Withdraw," and enter the external Solana wallet address you'd like to send to. Double-check the address carefully — transactions are irreversible. A 6.5% withdrawal fee applies. To convert USDC to cash, you can use a fiat off-ramp service (such as Transak, available in the app) after withdrawing to your personal wallet.
Multisig (multi-signature) means that any transaction from your wallet requires approval from two of three keys: your device key, the Waiting app key, and a recovery key stored in a secure vault. This means that even if someone steals your phone, they can't drain your wallet without the app's key. It also means that if Waiting's servers were compromised, the attacker still couldn't access your funds without your device key.
Contact us at support@peoplewhowait.com with the subject line "Wallet Recovery." You will need to verify your identity. Once verified, we can use the secure recovery key to restore your wallet access on a new device. A convenience fee applies to recovery operations. Do not share your private key or seed phrase with anyone — we will never ask for it.
Every profile has a unique QR code you can find in your profile settings. When someone scans it, if they have the app installed they'll be taken directly to your profile and prompted to subscribe. If they don't have the app, they'll be taken to a download page — after they install Waiting and sign up, they'll be automatically subscribed to your profile. This works whether your profile is public or private.
Yes. As a server, you have full control over who follows you. Go to your Subscribers list, tap on any subscriber, and select "Remove subscriber." They will not be notified and will no longer be able to see your schedule or status. You can also report a subscriber for inappropriate behavior using the same menu.
Yes. Tips received through Waiting — like all tips — are generally considered taxable income in the United States and most other jurisdictions. You are responsible for tracking and reporting your earnings. Waiting may be required to issue IRS Form 1099 to users whose tips exceed applicable reporting thresholds. We strongly recommend consulting a tax professional. Waiting does not provide tax advice.
Waiting has three referral tracks: server-to-server (earn 10% of a referred server's tips for their first 30 days, up to $50), server-to-patron and patron-to-patron (both parties earn $5 USDC when the new user sends their first tip). Full details and terms are at peoplewhowait.com/referral-terms.
Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm. Before deleting, make sure you have withdrawn any USDC balance from your wallet — once your account is deleted, wallet recovery becomes significantly more complex. Account deletion removes your profile and personal data within 30 days, though on-chain transaction records are permanent.
